On July 17th we’re partnering with The Style & Class Vancouver Meetup Community to bring an extra bit of our Design & Content fun to Vancouver through an exciting talk and panel on teaching bots to talk. This is a fun, thought-provoking session around the new reality of personal agents, bots, and artificial intelligence permeating our digital lives.
To make a bit more room we’re hosting the panel at The Rio Theatre in East Vancouver. The event is free to everyone, but there are only 400 tickets so you'll need to sign up for the Style & Class Meetup and get a ticket quickly! Tickets will be released on Friday June 16th at 9AM PDT.
How to Teach Your Bot to Talk
Conversational bots don’t auto-magically learn how to talk and behave. Humans need to teach them. When designing any natural language interaction, machine learning alone will give you exactly what you'd expect: robo-talk. But that's not what's needed in the experiences quickly emerging across devices, services, and social environments. We're literally at the nascent stage of this phenomenal evolution in the interactions between humans and technology. People on software engineering, design, and content teams often don't know where to begin in thinking beyond the tech to creating bots and experiences with intentional, crafted interactions that humans will enjoy.
The conversation platform of both today and the future needs not only innovative engineering, but expertise in design and creative writing to create the nuances of effective, meaningful, and personal conversations. You’ll hear insights about the type of talent that's needed to develop personality, craft conversation flows, ensure meaning, and add humor. And you’ll hear some specifics to provoke the thinking with your business leaders and stakeholders to take your bot from useful basics to something that can be engaging, effective, and fun.
