Science World - 1455 Quebec St, Vancouver
On Thursday, August 6, 2015, The Design & Content Conference, in partnership with MailChimp, is hosting a party at the nerd mecca of Science World. Thank you, MailChimp!
We’re thrilled with this venue and we can’t wait to share it with you. This is your chance to unwind, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the company of your peers while the sun sets over Vancouver. All the while surrounded by the False Creek inlet, a cityscape view, and science!
"Launch a parachute, capture your shadow and move yourself with a giant propeller as you experiment with water, light, sound and motion among the colourful and lively exhibits in Eureka! Hands-on discovery encourages visitors to try new things and ask "What would happen if...?" Home to our spectacular water table, ball launchers and walk on piano, Eureka! is the place that brings out the curious scientist in all of us." - Science World
Schedule
6:00pm: All conference attendees have free access to explore Science World galleries and interactive exhibits. It’s one of the must-see spots in Vancouver. All you need is your conference badge!
7:30 - 10:00pm: We’ll move into the Eureka Gallery reserved especially for us. We’ll have food for everyone, music, great conversation, a cash bar, and one of the best views of Vancouver.
Getting There
Science World is located at: 1455 Quebec St, Vancouver. Two groups will be walking over from the conference venue led by some of our wonderful volunteers. One group will leave shortly after the final talk at 5:30pm, and another group will leave at 5:45pm. We’ll meet in the main lobby by the registration desk. It’s a beautiful, 15-minute walk through Gastown and along False Creek.
If you’d like to venture out on your own from the conference hotel, volunteers will be waiting at Burrard and Main Street/Science World Skytrain Stations to guide you.
- From the hotel, walk about one minute North-East on Burrard Street to Dunsmuir Street
- Head into the Skytrain station (which is underground) and get on the Millennium Line towards VCC-Clark (tickets are $2.75/adult for one zone)
- Take the train three stops and exit at the Main Street/Science World Station
- Walk about two minutes West on Terminal ave across the street to Science World (the building with the geodesic dome).
- Present your conference badge at the front desk and you’re in!
What about after the party?
Friday starts early at 8:00am with CreativeMornings and a hot breakfast, and we recommend a sound rest for Thursday night. But if you’re wanting to head out with some new or old friends after the party, there are great locations in the Olympic Village in walking distance of Science World.
